Enthusiasm For The Lord

Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

The Lord is worth being enthusiastic about. I often doubt that people who say they are Christians but have no enthusiasm for the Lord are genuine Christians. I am not nearly as doubtful about a new Christian as one who claims to have been a Christian for a long time. The longer one is a Christian the more he should have learned about our wonderful Lord and the more enthusiastic he should be. The terms boring, half-hearted, luke-warm or lazy certainly do not belong in our relationship with the Lord or with loving, worshipping or serving Him. Christians with those attitudes need to repent of them and study the Bible more.

The better a Christian knows the Lord the more zealous, fervent, diligent, and energetic he will be for the Lord. Sometimes we fundamentalists are too reserved. Sometimes we are that way because we don*t want to emulate unbiblical televangelists or others who are enthusiastic about unbiblical things. We have more truth and more important truth to be enthusiastic about than they do. We are far more blessed by enthusiastic servants of God than those that are luke warm.
